Dockers Launches Livemercial Contest

Do you have the creativity to make your own commercial? If you have the makings of a future director, now is your chance to take a shot at proving yourself. Dockers just launched its Livemercial Contest starting April 29, 2008. Entrants will have the opportunity to create a 30-second video advertisement for Dockers and upload their videos on the widget for the Dockers contest until May 29, 2008.
On June 1, 2008, entries will be judged by Levi Strauss & Co and 5 finalists will be chosen. From the finalists, a Grand Prize Winner will be chosen and the winning video will be aired on the June 13, 2008 broadcast of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. It will likewise be made available at a limited time at NBC.com. Although no cash consideration will be awarded to the winner, the airtime more than compensates for any prize. This will give the winner valuable credentials, especially if the winner is pursuing a career in advertising.
Criteria for judging will be creativity (30%), originality (30%), ability to highlight the Dockers brand (35%), and total widget user rating (5%). I went through the entries that have already been uploaded and found most of them quite interesting. My favorite is “Historically . . ” which was done by scotthduke. It was clean, simple, and catchy. The advantage of a simple commercial is that viewers get to remember the product or brand more than any other feature in the advertisement. After watching the video, I can still distinctly remember the <Dockers brand at the end of the clip.
I f you have the talent, grab your camera and start working. This could be the big break you have been waiting for.
