Usher’s New Album Tops Music Charts

Enough with my kids’ music.  Let’s talk about mine.  Though I try to keep up with the new generation, I still am an R&B and soul music lover.  One of my favorites is award-winning R&B artist Usher.  If my kids think that rap and hip hop artists are cool, they must admit that Usher denotes class and elegance. Usher’s new album, Here I Stand, opens at number 1 this week, dethroning Jack Johnson’s Sleep Through the Static.  Experts say his new album may not reach the 9 million sales mark of Confessions, still it was notable that it opened at number one on the charts.  The drop is sales can’t be attributed to Usher’s diminished talent.  The drop is considered an industry-wide phenomenon as the purchasing power of consumers have declined in the past year.  When the economy slumps, it is inevitable that the entertainment industry gets the first whip since their products are considered non-essentials.

Nevertheless, the greatest artists survive the slump.  Despite minimal sales, they still get the top list in consumer non-essentials.  And with Usher currently at number 1, he is without a doubt one of the best R&B singers of the 21st century.
