Chinese Investor Wins Bid to Have Lunch With Buffet for $2.1 Million

Zhao Danyang, a Chinese investment fund manager, won the opportunity to have lunch with billionaire Warren Buffett with a $2.1 million bid in the most expensive charity auction ever held on Ebay.

The Hong Kong-based Pureheart China Growth Investment Fund won the auction with a bid of exactly $2,110,100 which ended Friday evening. Proceeds from the auction will be donated to Glide Foundation. Glide provides social services to the poor and homeless in San Francisco which operates on an annual budget of $12 million.

Buffett has been auctioning off lunches online for nearly six years before he began auctioning the lunches for Glide off-line in 2000. The prominent businessman offers only one lunch a year with last year’s lunch bringing in $650,100.

Zhao and up to seven friends will dine with Buffett at the Smith & Wollensky steakhouse in New York City whenever the two men can schedule it. It usually takes some time for winners to get their chance because of schedule constraints.

I wonder how much someone would pay to have lunch with me? Any takers out there? For $500, I will take anyone out for burgers at McDonald’s, my treat. Yeah, some people say I daydream too much.
