Cabin Cuddler: As Sweet and Warm as a Mother’s Embrace

The moment I opened the package I already felt the soft warmth that I was certain my Cabin Cuddler would give me. Never again will I travel in discomfort in the freezing temperatures of an airplane. And I can already imagine myself curled up in front of the fireplace during the holidays all cozy reading a good book wrapped around the arms of what is now my favorite blanket.

Cabin Cuddler is a 6-in-1 travel blanket and pillow that can be easily stored in a tote bag which can be conveniently carried along during trips. It also comes with a pillow that is easily inflatable like a balloon. Considering the low temperatures during airline travel, long trips can be so uncomfortable. Not even the distraction of a good movie or my IPod can make me ignore my freezing limbs. It was under these circumstances that Cabin Cuddler was created — an indispensable travel companion to keep you warm while you find ways to make your trip less cumbersome.

It’s also a great accessory to use at home in the coming cold months. Its contour cut and patented foot pocket ensures that it covers every inch of your body. The winter months are now more inviting while you huddle closer to a talkative tiny princess who endlessly talk about the gifts that she hopes Santa will bring. Even miniature PSP fingers will now feel warmer this holiday season.

Remember what it feels like to be in your mom’s embrace while snowflakes drizzle outside on a cold winter night. Get your Cabin Cuddler now.

Beware of Melamine-Contaminated Food from China (unofficial list included)

Following reports that pet food had been recalled due to melamine contamination, the latest report has consumers panicking as they try to determine which ones are safe for their family. Considering that a large amount of products now come from China and have been patronized due to their low price, alarms have now been raised with news circulating that melamine has also tainted milk formula from China which has made thousands of children ill.

Food experts believe that it may have been part of China’s food chain for a long time now. To date, 53,000 infants have gotten sick after drinking formula milk deliberately contaminated with melamine. Four babies have died, 13,000 have been hospitalized, and 104 are currently in a critical condition with kidney stones caused by the adulterant.

Apparently, baby formula milk requires high protein content and producers are able to cheat on this regulation by mixing it with melamine powder. However, the list of contaminated food is not limited to just baby formula. Even meat products can be contaminated if the food fed to these animals were likewise tainted with melamine. It can also be absorbed by plants if the pesticide used contains cyromazine, a derivative of melamine, which is commonly used in China as a pesticide.

Though effects are not verified yet, experts say that melamine cause kidney stones and other kidney problems. It is still uncertain what the long term effects are. While kidney stones can be removed easily, melamine may cause other damage when it crystallizes and blocks the small tubes in the kidney that filter blood.

Following are the products that are suspected for possible melamine contamination:

IPhone 3G Purchase Application Available Online

Apple now offers users the ability to get an IPhone 3G and sign up for AT&T service online before visiting an Apple Store. It will allow users to enter billing information, review their eligibility, and choose an AT&T plan. As soon as you have completed the process, you can then visit an Apple Store to complete the purchase. The issue behind the scheme is that you still need to go to an Apple Retail Store. It would have been a great service if everything was possible online. Apparently, you still need to go to the store to get your IPhone and activate it.

Looks like Apple is forecasting total sales of the IPhone 3G to reach 5 million during the holiday season. If their projections are accurate, Apple would meet their 10 million target for IPhone 3G sales in 2008.

Judge Tosses Maria Dominguez Case Against Puff Diddy

Hedge Fund manager Maria Dominguez lost her case against Sean “Puff Diddy” Combs when the judge tossed the case claiming that a woman who takes off her top at Diddy’s White Party couldn’t expect much privacy. Dominguez filed a $3 million invasion-of-privacy suit when a topless picture of her was published in the November 2006 issue of Vibe captioned “Mermaids Gone Wild.”

Sean Combs’ annual White Party is famous and are subjects of public interests and news organizations. The picture of Dominguez, 28, romping in a pool with the other lovelies in sexy mermaid suits, appeared on a page that featured photographs of clothed celebrities. She claims that she was unaware of being photographed and never gave anyone permission to publish her controversial picture.

Vibe argued it didn’t need permission at a “newsworthy” event, and Judge Ling-Cohan agreed. though Dominguez charged that picture was used as advertising for the hip hop star. Combs’ counsels, however, insists that coming as a mermaid in provocative costume at a renowned party and knowing that there were swarms of photographers around should have given her an idea what she was getting into.

Close, Cranston, Fey, and Baldwin Take Top Emmy Awards

Glenn Close of “Damages” and Bryan Cranston of “Breaking Bad” captured drama awards while Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin of “30 Rock” won top comedy acting honors at Sunday’s Emmy Awards. With presidential elections upcoming in November, the recurring theme in most speeches was politics.

However, Tina Fey’s speech was my favorite where she thanked her parents for raising her to have confidence that is disproportionate with her looks and abilities. This, she claims, is what all parents should do. Fey, Sarah Palin’s lookalike, also won a trophy for best writing in a comedy series.

Meanwhile, Close exclaimed that actresses are now proving that complicated, powerful, and mature women are sexy, are high entertainment, and can carry a show. On the other hand, Cranston won the trophy for his role of a desperate man who turns to making drugs.

Pine Bark Extract: The Natural Relief to Knee Arthritis

After my mother’s bout with Stevens Johnson Syndrome, I’ve become more wary of medications. Whenever possible, none in our family takes any medications, especially new ones we have not taken before. Considering the ill effects that chemicals may have on the human body, it may be safer to just go natural.

Dr. Peter Rohdewald of the University of Munster in Germany recently discovered that pine bark extract may be the natural way to relieve pain from knee arthritis. The active ingredient in pine bark extract is Pycnogenol which has strong anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.

The research was made from data collected from 100 Slovakian adults with mild knee arthritis. Results show that the group taking Pycnogenol had a 20.9% improvement in terms of pain, stiffness, and daily activities. The joint improvement even persisted for 4 weeks even when Pycnogenol was discontinued. Following a 3-month supplement of Pycnogenol, joint pain also decreased by 40.3%. This means that there was less intake of analgesic to relieve those suffering from the disease.

After the clinical studies conducted, it appears that Pycnogenol’s anti-inflammatory properties is the natural alternative for those with osteoarthritis. Though it is still recommended that patients consult their physicians, it now becomes a natural alternative rather than purely taking pain medications.

Frank Lucas Proposes Shrinking of the Nickel

As the government frantically tries to establish its bail out plans for the financial market following the bankruptcy of Lehman, Rep. Frank Lucas proposed the shrinking of the nickel in order for the US mint to save millions of dollars. Lucas introduced House Resolution 6942 that would replace the nickel with a half-dime. It would be slightly smaller and half the weight of the current dime. This involves using less metal and thus, taxpayers need not pay more than 9 cents to produce a coin worth only 5 cents. At 9.5 cents to produce and ship, loss passed on to taxpayers for the nickel reaches $58.5 million.

Lucas, a member of the House Financial Services Committee, has not yet proposed eliminating the penny which may be another cost-effective measure that would save the government millions. With Congress still busy with other matters that need more urgent attention, these measures my be resolved only by next year.

Succeed In Losing Weight

Most of us are watching what we eat and exercising. Yet, losing weight has been difficult, if not near impossible. Well, there may be things or habits that we do that keep us from achieving our goals.

1. Get more sleep. Studies show that your glucose levels can rise with only 4 to 7 hours of sleep every night. Though new parents are excluded, everyone else should try to get at least 8 hours of sleep as often as possible. Every hour of rest before 12 a.m. is twice as valuable as the hours after midnight because our cortisol levels are lowest before midnight making recovery better.

2. Eat fewer refined and processed foods. Try to avoid fast and fried food and consume as many real foods. It’s also imperative to get enough fiber for better elimination — fruits and veggies are a great way to fill up without the extra calories.

3. Avoid drinks loaded with sugar and get more water. Water is best for digestion, eliminating toxins in the body, and transporting important nutrients to our cells which need energy to burn calories.

4. Cook your own food. I may take more work, but the truth is we eat out or order in too often. We have more control on what we eat if we cook it ourselves.

5. Slow down when eating. Don’t wolf down when eating. The monks chew each bite of food 100 times, but they also eat only until they are full. They recognize that chewing their food more makes it easier for the body to digest.

6. Breathe. Practice proper and regular breathing. Close your eyes, pull that air deep into your stomach via your nose and let all the junk out through your mouth. Whether its a stressful day, or you just want to start and end your day on the right foot, breathing is important.

7. Don’t starve yourself. Not eating is the worst diet program. It tells our body to slow metabolism. And don’t skip breakfast because people who skip breakfast are over 4 times more likely to be overweight.

8. Exercise regularly. Even with a work out program or a diet program, everything has to be balanced. You cannot lose weight with just one. And it always help to keep a positive outlook — try to keep stress out of your life.

Sarah Palin’s Yahoo Mail Hacked

Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin’s Yahoo mail account was hacked Wednesday and her emails published at Wikileaks, divulging inconsequential personal messages since she was selected as John McCain’s running mate. The McCain camp considered it an invasion of privacy and a violation of law. According to a statement, they have turned the matter over to authorities and hoped that those in possession of the emails would destroy them. Yeah, right.

One of the emails that was revealed was an exchange in July with Alaska Lieutenant Governor Sean Parnell discussing a talk show host who had been critical of Parnell. Parnell declined to discuss the matter. While another was a personal email of support from McCorkell, appointee of Palin to an advisory board on issues involving alcohol and drug abuse.

The disclosure raises issues about the propriety of the Palin administration’s use of non-government email accounts to conduct state business. Prior to her selection as vice presidential candidate, critics obtained internal emails showing that it was practiced by some aides.

It was unclear how hackers broke into Palin’s Yahoo! account, but it was possible that a hacker sent a forged e-mail to her account tricking her into revealing her own password.
