Ryan O’Neal and his son were arrested Wednesday when police found drugs at the actor’s Malibu home during a routine probation check. Authorities suspect that both men had methamphetamine though the substances found still need to be tested. Los Angeles Sheriff’s deputies and probation officers went to their home for a routine check on his son Redmond. Redmond is currently serving 3 years probation after pleading guilty to drug possession in June.

Authorities also found narcotics in Ryan O’ Neals living area aside from those found in his son’s room. Both remain in custody with a $10,000 bail and could be charged with felony for possession of narcotics. Ryan O’Neal was also arrested last February on suspicion of assaulting his elder son, Griffin. However, charges were never filed.

Philadelphia Eagles coach Andy Reid’s sons were sentenced to jail for drug use and dealing. Britt Reid, 22 years old, was sentenced to 8 to 23 months in prison plus 5 years probation for drug use and carrying a handgun without license. Aside from testing positive for drugs, Britt pointed a handgun at another driver following a dispute. On the other hand 24-year old Garett Reid was sentenced to 2 to 23 months in jail plus 1 year probation for drug use and dealing. He tested positive for heroin and ran a red light on January 30, hitting another car during the incident. Andy Reid and his wife, Tammy, were in court but refused to comment.

Eagles players went about their practice routine Thursday without Reid, the first time the coach missed practice in his nine seasons with the franchise. He took a 5-week leave from the Eagles during the offseason to take care of his sons’ ordeal. He declines to comment on his sons’ drug and legal problems but assures that he will not resign from the team. Players say the coach truly loved his children and wanted to be there to support them despite the problems.

Both Reids can apply for a special drug court program after a few months of serving their jail sentence. It would require them to report to authorities regularly, undergo rigorous drug testing and hold down jobs.

Photographer Jill Greenberg admits to have deliberately taken and manipulated photos of Republican Presidential Candidate John McCain to make him look evil when she was hired by The Atlantic. Though the October issue of The Atlantic will not use the bad photos, the possibility that The Atlantic colluded with Greenberg may be a matter of opinion. Apparently, the owner of The Atlantic is the husband of Katherine Brittain Bradley, a supporter of Barack Obama. This led many to believe that The Atlantic deliberately hired Greenberg.

Mars Petcare US just announced that it was doing a voluntary recall of products manufactured at its Everson, Pennsylvania facility. The pet food is being recalled in the US because of potential contamination with Salmonella serotype Schwarzengrund.

Salmonella is known to cause serious infections in dogs and cats. Cross contamination with people is also possible due to handling of the pet food. People who are prone to the infection are mainly those with compromised immune systems and children or the aged. Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping and fever. Consumers exhibiting these signs after having contact with the said product should contact their healthcare providers immediately.

On the other hand, pets with Salmonella infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Others would have decreased appetite, fever, and abdominal pains. It is also possible that those without symptoms can be carriers of the infection and could pass it on to other pets or other people. Hurricane Ike is currently wreaking havoc on Texas and Louisiana coastlines and just tossed a disabled freighter in rough water.
