Despite the recent efforts of government to resolve the current economic crisis, we all know that changes will not happen overnight. We still have a long way to go before things get a little sunny. Meanwhile, consumers will have to utilize their ingenuity and resourcefulness to overcome the financial hurdles. Most people keep a tight rein on expenses and stop spending altogether to stay afloat. Then again, the government keep telling us that this will hurt the economy even more. What do we do then?

I believe we should stay in between — spend prudently, yet try to save whenever possible. At home, we try to keep maintenance expenses at a minimum. Outsourcing plumbing works or electrical repairs should be limited — whenever possible we try to do the repairs ourselves. It was that point we realized how important basic tools and equipment are at home. These are tools that can be used in the long run and are practically considered a sound investment. And getting them online will provide us more savings than getting them in your local hardware store.

I’ve always been nagging people at home to get a power drill. I hate having to call the repair man just to install hooks and whatever at home. Now would be a good time to get one. And the good thing about Shopwiki is that I also got some good tips on how to do the drilling myself. I also find the list of top manufacturers of power drills very useful.  For someone who is not familiar with power drills, it gives you a better idea which brand to purchase.  Now, who needs the repair guy?
