Diamond Peel for Younger-Looking Skin

Probably one of the bestselling and most profitable products in the market today are those that involve delaying the effects of age on the body. The market segment for anti-aging is not only exclusive to women but likewise involves all other genders. Products from botox to viagra have proven to be profitable, not only to manufacturers, but also to dealers or retailers. This also translated to the popularity of cosmetic or dermatological treatments.

Since I belong to the female gender, let me just talk about those that make women pour out their hard-earned bucks to just to stay young and beautiful. During the 20th century, only women in their late thirties or in their forties are known to put all sorts of gunk on their face to slow down the appearance of wrinkles or make them younger than they are. Now, dermatologists suggest that skin care should start as early as 25. With so many brands in the market, it’s almost impossible to pick the right one. Even research proves futile since everyone knows that testimonials are paid endorsements and most don’t hold much water. Beauty forums actually give out better and more reliable information – – women do take care of each other. What I do regularly though, that has given positive results is diamond peeling. I have a reliable dermatologist do this for me every month at The Dermatology & Laser Group. It is a bit pricey but I get mine at a good price since she includes a free facial cleaning before the actual procedure.

The Diamond Peel is a revolutionary skin treatment which utilizes a diamond dust-coated wand to exfoliate the skin. It is a non-invasive procedure which treats age lines, acne scars, hyper-pigmented skin, age spots, blackheads, whiteheads, and enlarged or clogged pores. The combined polishing action of diamond chips and cleaning action of the vacuum gently remove dead cells on the top layer of the skin, leaving it softer, cleaner, and smoother. The treatment lasts between 20-30 minutes if done on the face and neck. However, don’t expect drastic results on the first treatment. Although there will be an improvement on your first treatment, the big change actually happens after the third session. When I had mine, the first session made my skin smoother. It was after the second treatment that everyone started noticing that my face is becoming even-toned. It does not end with just the diamond peel. The dermatologist prescribes a moisturizer to be applied morning and night regularly for maintenance. During days, I was also given an spf 80 sunblock to be applied in the mornings after my face and neck has absorbed the moisturizer. By the way, the spf is high because I reside in a tropical place.

I highly recommend the procedure. However, it is a must that you allow only a professional dermatologist to do it or at least in a reputable clinic. It is a simple procedure but there are so many horror stories about dermatologists or cosmetic surgeons to take it too lightly. I also know that there are portable diamond peel sets so you can do it yourself. But that’s risky too. The dermatologist only scrubs the non-sensitive parts of the face — meaning she doesn’t touch the area around my eyes or the skin above my upper lip. I’m also sure she does certain motions specifically for a certain part of the face or the neck. So, just to be sure, better let the doctors do it. Always remember that damage on the skin cannot be reversed. It can only be remedied. And most important of all, always remember that there is nothing wrong in growing old — we just want to do it gracefully.
