Most women obsess about getting wrinkles or looking old. It is no wonder that the cosmetic industry continues to grow at a fast and steady pace. Now, even men have their own skin regimen. It is an accepted fact that no human being wants to age and lose his/her youth. In ancient times, myths about the Fountain of Youth have been spun into so many tales, proving that vanity remains a value held by many regardless of gender or era.
While we hear so many claims from cosmetic manufacturers about the magic they can do for your skin, none can actually validate their claims beyond reasonable doubt. As such, it would still be practical to stick to natural and safe ways of taking care of your skin.
1. Use a soap-free facial cleanser. It is not necessary to purchase expensive facial cleansers for your face. The objective is to rinse off dirt, oil, and other impurities on your face without making it dry. The key is to use a soap-free cleanser that will help retain moisture while cleaning your face. For oily skin, a foaming gel or an alpha hydroxy acid wash works best to degrease your face. Massage your face with cleanser at least 30 seconds to be able to break down make-up and sebum on the surface.
2. Maintain an antioxidant treatment. Antioxidants protect your skin from pollution and stress that leave free radicals. Though the most common antioxidants are Vitamin C and E, new research shows more antioxidants in coffee berry extract, grapeseed extract, asparagus, and more. So, make sure these nutrients are part of your health regimen.
3. Don’t forget to use sunscreen when you leave the house. The sun probably provides the most damaging effects on the skin. As such, a decent sunscreen is considered a must. Make sure you choose one that has long-lasting protection against both UVA and UVB.
4. Eat healthy and drink 8 glasses of water a day. You may have all the skin protection in your arsenal, but if you don’t eat healthy and drink water, your skin is still bound to deteriorate fast. Keep your body hydrated and ensure good blood circulation. Exercise also releases toxins from the body and keeps the skin healthy.
Growing old is inevitable, but looking old is avoidable. Remember that the best solution is early protection and keeping healthy habits a part of your life.
