Amy Winehouse Dead at 27

Amy Winehouse was found dead on Saturday, July 23,  in her London house.   The death of the 27-year old pop controversial artist was officially reported as “unexplained.”  However, sources claim that she died of a drug overdose.  Amy Winehouse is a known drug user and has been dealing with the problem for a while.  When police arrived at her home, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Winehouse had a publicized problem with drug abuse and alcohol.  The singer had withdrawn from all her scheduled performances last month after problems with her European tour performances.  In Belgrade, she was booed off the stage after seeming to forget the lyrics to her song.  The tour was eventually canceled and she was given time off to recover from her problem and improve her health.

Amy Winehouse gained popularity with her debut album Frank in 2003.  But it was her 2006 follow-up album, Back to Black, that catapulted her to stardom and led to five Grammy awards.

There are still no updates on the official cause of death.  Rumors abound that her death may have been caused by the drug ecstasy together with binge drinking.  Others speculate that the death of Amy Winehouse may have been caused by seizures — a health problem still attributed to her drug and alcohol problems she has been battling for years.
