Video Game Intended to Teach Emergency Responders
Finally, a video game aimed at saving lives rather than ending them has been developed by British company TruSim to help in training responders during emergency. Triage Trainer is set in the immediate aftermath of an explosion with casualties scattered everywhere. The player’s job is to diagnose and triage the injured. It involves making calls that will determine which patients are in immediate danger and which are not seriously injured.
The game was developed as an improvement to the traditional training method which proves more expensive and more complicated. With the game, it will be unnecessary to close down a large area in the city to conduct the training and all possible injuries are easily simulated for a more effective learning method.
TruSim is the the division of British developer Blitz Games Studios that handles “serious games.” It is the same company that developed the Xbox party game Fuzion Frenzy, and the surprisingly good Burger King promotional game Sneak King.Based on a video of the game, it seems the game can match the visuals and effects of any mainstream video game. Maybe TruSim will consider a public release to give us an idea how good we are during emergency situations.
