Myphone: Dual Active Sim Mobile Hits the Market.

For mobile phone addicts, Solid Group’s (Sony Philippines) MyPhone mobiles have become the latest buzz as everybody starts talking about its dual active sim capability. A mobile phone with this capability will definitely be a source of curiousity with several Filipinos here in Manila actually carrying around 2 separate mobile phones from 2 different carriers. Although there had been several attempts to customize popular brands with a dual sim attachment, it proved unsuccessful since the phone still did not allow both sim cards to be active at the same time. Either a switch had to be triggered or the phone had to be turned off and on again to make the alternate line active. Either way, it defeats the purpose since a user manually checks whether a message has been sent to the alternate line and the inactive line is still unavailable anyway. Now, with the T22, both lines get prompted for text messages at the same time and either line is open for calls as long as the phone is not busy. However, if the secondary line is currently in use, the primary line activates its call waiting feature (if this is available with the network).

Over and above the T22’s dual sim capability, it also has the same features that the renowned brands possess. It has a bluetooth technology, a 2 megapixel camera, video and audio recording, caller groups, user profiles, calendar, etc. It also has USB interface for data transfer with a PC and a USB charger ( charging can be done through the PC or through a direct electric plug). The T22 can also serve as a flash drive/removable disk as it has a microSD/T-Flash memory card slot (maximum of 2GB capability). Other hip features include the following — an mp3 player, mp3 ringtones, picture and tone ids for contacts, a flight mode, and a touch screen. For a mere PhP9,999 , the box includes an extra stylus, an extra battery (total of 2 batteries), a handsfree headset, a usb cable (for charging and pc connection), and a separate desktop charger.

Beloved Mom of Kanye West Passes Away Due to Cosmetic Surgery

Society’s pressure on women keeps piling up tragedies with the death of Kanye West’s mother last Saturday, November 10, after undergoing cosmetic surgery. The inspiration for Kanye’s song “Hey Mama” and the author of Raising Kanye: Life Lessons From The Mother Of A Hip-Hop Star, Dr. Donda West, passed away after going under the knife for a breast reduction and tummy tuck. After the loss of his biggest supporter, Kanye has laid low and simply released a publicist-crafted statement that in lieu of flowers, donations be made under his mother’s name to the Kanye West Foundation. Until now, 2007 had been a year of amazing highs for Kanye with the release of one of the most successful albums of the year, winning that 50 Cent sales war, the triumph at the BET and Mobo Awards, upstaging almost everyone at the Concert For Diana, and planning his wedding with fiance, Alexis.

Donda West’s cosmetic surgeon is none other than Dr. Jan Adams, host of Discovery Health Network’s Plastic Surgery: Before & After for five years. The show has been canceled following the death of Donda while unflattering allegations against Dr. Adams now starts to surface. It has been reported that the doctor agreed to perform the operation even though other surgeons have refused because of a pre-existing condition. Moreover, malpractice lawsuits have been filed against him in the past and his license has been recommended by the State Medical Board to be revoked previously. The list goes on and on and does not look promising.

12-Year Old Girl Commits Suicide Due to Poverty

Amidst the controversial 500K bonus given to Filipino congressmen and local officials, a 12-year old girl from Davao City, Philippines decides to give up her dreams of finishing school as her unemployed father did not have the means to provide her PhP100 needed for her school project. News like these make you want to scream at the top of your lungs especially when it comes after reports on political squabbling and corruption in the Philippine government. How can the Arroyo government claim that we are moving forward when poverty, unemployment and illiteracy is rampant all over the country. I have long ago turned a deaf ear to Philippine politics because I find their bickering and audacity at corruption exasperating. Lately, everything seems to be getting louder that not even my deaf ears can ignore what is happening.

Still, I refuse to discuss politics. We can speculate and discuss the source of the funds given to the officials or the details of the ZTE deal for months and never get anywhere. Somewhere along the way, we will get sidetracked with bombings or pardons awarded to opposition leaders until we get tired and forget. So, let me just tell you about Mariannet Amper, or Manette as she is fondly called by those she left behind.

Jokela High School Shooting: Finnish student kills himself after his shooting spree

Pekka-Eric Auvinen, a teenager and attending Jokela High School in Tuusula, southern Finland, yesterday opened fire at his school killing eight people, including the school principal, before turning the gun on himself, has died in the hospital later that day. Eighteen years old Auvinen, shot himself in the head after killing five boys, two girls and one adult woman who turned out to be the head teacher.

Police said the gunman shot the victims with a .22-calibre pistol. About a dozen other people were injured as they tried to escape what is believed to be the first fatal shooting in a Finnish school.

Angelina Jolie Blushes Over Nudity in Beowulf

With the upcoming release of Beowulf, movie enthusiasts can’t wait to see this  computer animated epic.  Unlike other computer animated films, Beowulf utilized animation over existing film footage to create a stunning computer animated film that resulted in characters looking so much like their actor counterparts.  The film stars Anthony Hopkins, John Malkovich, Angelina Jolie, and Ray Winstone as Beowulf.  The screenplay is a collaboration between Neil Gaiman and Roger Avary adapted from the Anglo-Saxon epic poem of the same title.  The movie is directed by Robert Zemeckis.

Angelina Jolie’s voice and image represents Grendel’s evil seductive mother, the Queen of Darkness.  With Jolie’s reputation for being daring and undaunted, it is surprising that  the actress admits to feeling shy after seeing her computer image naked except for gold paint covering her entire body and a lizard tail.  Although she had a lot of fun with the movie, she was amazed to see the final footages and felt exposed.  Despite the initial inhibition, she loves the end result and absolutely adores her tail.

I’m dying to see the movie.  The film will be released in the US on November 16.  I hope every second of Beowulf is just as exciting as the trailer.

The Secret - Rhonda Byrne

After finishing Rhonda Byrne’s bestselling self-help book, I am still trying to absorb everything. The book is based on the movie produced by Byrne. However, it is the book that has received more mileage, reaching the top of the New York Time’s Best Seller list (hardcover advice) and has managed to stay on the list for 42 weeks. The book is hardly original as it compiles insights and advice from the world’s top mentors on self-improvement.

The Secret expounds on the law of attraction and how it affects our everyday life. According to experts, the Secret has been known by the most prominent and successful people for centuries. The concept is actually very simple - what the mind conceives and believes, the Universe will find a way to achieve. I’m sure we have all heard that before. However, the book includes details on visualization and other techniques to assist the mind in conceptualizing our desires. It is also broken down into several parts that deal with wealth, health, relationships, etc. Nevertheless, every part says the same thing — make your desire known, meditate on it regularly, visualize, anticipate, and believe that it has already been achieved.
