US Dream Team Pushed Aside the Angolan Team at 97-76

The US Olympic Basketball Team easily defeated the Angolans with a 97-76 victory Tuesday night. It was an expected massacre as LeBron James overpowered their opponents in the court. Dwayne Wade scored 19 points while Dwight Howard added another 14 points. At least, the Angolan Team met their goal of not losing for more than 40 points. Now that the US Dream Team has wrapped up the easy leg of the competition, they are now preparing for the next game with Greece.

It was Greece that delivered the upset to the US Team in the semi-finals of the world championships 2 years ago and the US does not intend to make a repeat. They are now aware of how physical Greece can get and anticipates a tougher game than the last two. The US team will meet world champion Spain after the game with Greece.

The team was actually shooting badly during the game with Angola with Kobe Bryant making 0-for-5 in the first half. Though he improved in the next half, he admits that the team was having problems in spot-up shooting and needs to adjust. The Americans were 7-of-24 from behind the arc during the game with China and now barely any difference at making 5 out of 21.

Nike Produces Limited Quantity of Marty McFly’s “Air McFly”

Kobe Bryant arrived in a DeLorean as the event highlight during Nike’s limited sale of the Air McFly. The futuristic Nike shoe was first viewed in “Back to the Future 2″ in 1989 worn by Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly which had folks begging the sports company to produce the shoes for consumers.

Finally, Nike obliged — but definitely not for the masses. Fans lined up early to get a crack at the limited edition model. However, many left disappointed since Nike only made 350 pairs. For those determined to get a pair, just check Ebay — pairs are up for auction and currently going for as high as $1,000 (sans the power laces). Whew! That’s what I call entrepreneurship!

Kobe scores 39 points to lead Lakers to 2008 NBA Finals

I just got this off the newsflash…

kobe bryantNBA Superstar Kobe Bryant, scored 39 points in today’s game versus bitter opponent San Antonio Spurs, to seal their best-of-seven series in 5 games. With this LA win, I think the controversial “no-foul” call (or simply non-call) made in Game 4 has now become moot and academic and I don’t think the protest (if there is any) would make any difference because by the looks of it, Kobe and his boys have convincingly proven that they are the best Western Conference team, at least for this year.

For now, the Lakers can relax while they wait for the winning team in the semi-final Eastern Conference match between the Boston Celtics and the Detroit Pistons.

Personally, I’d be backing any team going against Kobe Bryant. I know he has the ability and he will probably make (or even beat) all NBA scoring records, but an airbag like Bryant will never ever achieve the greatness of Michael “Air” Jordan. Be that as it may, the Lakers will surely be the heavy favorite in the finals series because aside from Bryant’s fire power and exciting fancy court moves, coach Phil Jackson’s return to the NBA Finals is something that basketball afficionados have been looking forward to in a while.
