A Series of Unfortunate Events Done Right

series of unfortunate events1

If someone tells us to stop and look away, we will not be able to help ourselves, right?  How can we not look?  Well, this has been Lemony Snicket’s suggestion when you start reading his books, A Series of Unfortunate Events.  It’s a brilliant invite, validated by the success of the series worldwide.

I have never read the books and just saw the movie where Jim Carrey played Count Olaf.  Reviews of the movie weren’t good.  I didn’t understand why many hated the movie version as I did find it entertaining.  Well, how many movie adaptations ever lived up to its written version?  My only gripe was that I never found out the secret of the Baudelaire parents.  While many blamed Jim Carrey’s portrayal of Count Olaf, I don’t think he could have played it any other way.  Jim Carrey’s characters were always over the top and cartoony. Of course, no matter how outlandish he played the role, I feel like Sunny took the spotlight away from everyone.

But I may finally get a chance to see the story in a different perspective.  Ever since Netflix released the mysterious teaser online, I was excited to see the tv version.  Maybe the books finally found the right platform for its adaptation.  Now, there is more time to see the entire series of 13 books (crossing my fingers). The Walking Dead Season 7 Premiere: What’s More Scary Than Zombies?

Negan and Lucille

Warning: Spoilers ahead!

Most of us had a feeling that it was Glen’s time in The Walking Dead Season 7.  We were preparing ourselves for it.  We knew Lucille (Negan’s bat) would kill him.  For so many months we were resigned to it.  So, when Abraham took the hits, it was a mixture of relief and disappointment.  They killed a minor character.  I thought maybe they were right.  TWD was becoming boring.

I was dead wrong.  It just came without warning.  When Lucille hit Glen’s head, I just stopped breathing.  And seeing Glen with his eye almost off its socket but still alive was unforgiving.  We were preparing ourselves for death.  But not when we thought he was already safe.  And not that way.

I’ve seen all the episodes of TWD, but that was definitely the scariest.  Hell, no zombie can compete with Negan.  I’d probably faint if I met Jeffrey Dean Morgan walking on the street, lol.  At least I hope that’s what would happen.  Because I’d rather not pee in my pants.

Now, that’s what I call a villain.
