“But Kirsten,” say, “do not have a well endless dark knowledge to create my Easter eggs with!”  ”Can I give you to use this valuable suggestion?”

Of course not!  The idea is to connect with some of his readers in a higher, more personal level and help them to relate to you as a human member instead of an untouchable expert.  Easter eggs do not have to contain obscure references; You can use references to a common problem among the readers you also fight with yourself.

Take the productivity (unless it is a blogger of productivity, in which case can go with something else).  If you’re like most people, it has tried to a pot of different theories and systems, and most of them didn’t.  You have difficulties to find the motivation and time to keep your system and often allow fragments slide until it is far off track to discard it and start again.  Productivity is a small source of frustration, but I really don’t know why, and not sure how to fix it.

(The reason that has problems is because you are working against your personality type and needed a system that is in harmony with the functioning of the brain.)  ”(Pero_ese_no_es_el_punto_de_este_post).”

Guess what?  If you have problems for both, it means that readers probably have the same problem.  So if dot its struggles in your blog posts as Easter eggs, readers respond as if had made a reference to the 1990s British anarchist punk rock band.  You’ve only shown that it has something in common with them and hinted at a very human failure to boot.

The result?  Instant connection and unconditional fans.  And yet you don’t have to dig through Wikipedia get.

Blogs without a computer

It is this post invited by Janek Makulec paylane.

It is actually a set of activities, but the writing is always essential. Promotion of your blog or to present an outstanding design is one thing, but there are always offer good content first. Otherwise, the best that can be achieved is being “the master of the form”.

What is wrong with a computer?

Nothing, of course. People here the problem, computers are only tools. It is our psychology, human nature.

So what should we use, if not a computer? There are no good general answer. It depends on what you prefer. My options are: pens and pencils, paper, typewriter and brains.

A strategy of the Blog traffic: quality vs quantity

It is this post invited by Marcello Arrambide wandering merchant.

When it comes to blogs, there are different mindsets about the amount of traffic and the quality of traffic. At different stages in the development of a website, they tend to focus on one or the other, but when we started a new blog, we mainly want to get traffic to it. Even if you’re a famous celebrity, its new Web site will not get anywhere without some effort.

If you want to write quality content, will finally arrive traffic. Check out this great post by John Burnside to get a better understanding of site traffic in general.

Tactical advice for building an online community

It is this post invited by Jim Nelson of Tripawds.com.

With all the wonderful comments on my post invited on how we use WordPress for several sites and discussion forums to build the community of our niche market rather, I thought that it could provide some details on specific tactics and plugins of network that we use to protect the informed users, active and growing in number.

There are few social media nuts and bolts that keep the Tripawds Blogs community together. These methods of work for us, as demonstrated by the growing membership and an increase in traffic to the blogs featured and archived content.

My recommendations are not the only solutions to generate measurable success, though. Please comment below with their own recommendations for promoting social interaction in membership sites.

10 Dalai Lama Blogging lessons

It is this post invited by Annabel Candy blogs successfully.

Recently, the Dalai Lama came to visit me in the costa del sol in Australia. Well, not me specifically but the thousands of people leading miles, stacked in buses and waited under bright skies to hear you speak.

It wasn’t what I expected. I joined Toastmasters to learn the art of public speaking, but I do not think that the Dalai Lama needs to. His speech was not polished but his message came clear and clearly why he builds that mass following, even without the help of social media.

Here is a man who is not necessary to use blogs to build your business, make more money or set up as an expert in his field. It is the spiritual leader of the world.

Even he does not write a blog, but the Dalai Lama still has much to teach bloggers.

Flags of prayer in the stage hung a little low and the Dalai Lama peeked to behind them instantly to the laughter of the audience. Then he was concerned that Aboriginal dancers, dressed only with a little red cloth, can feel the cold.

There are already enough dry, tutorial style information around. People learn more and wants to return to a blog that is fun to read and must make the most of bloggers.

There was a comfortable sofa, sitting center stage for the Dalai Lama to recline in while he spoke. It is an old but said not to see it there, so he decided to take the lead in the stage under the sun hot where we could see it better.

Is all about relationships, interact with their readers and present them on their blog and their outposts of media social bookmark

The five worst forms to a Blog entry title

Post qualification seems to be some territory sacred for many bloggers. We believe that the title contains the essence of our post, and therefore, is the essence of ourselves, our personalities, our e-mails, our brands.

On the other hand, we see many titles of post on the Web and it seems to be endless variation at our disposal. Many factors play a title: topic of the post, the angle we have taken, SEO and keywords etc. Even if you’re a type mi-titles-are-mi-brand of blogger, is not impossible to be taken when it’s a blog of certification.

It has spoken much about how to approach the qualifications from different perspectives, and each of us must find our own title “groove”. I thought that here is him five submitted for the degree of post and explain why they are less ideal.

Many writers use formulas to post titles: Aman Vasanti explained one of these methods here in web entrepreneur.

These formulas for titles can be fun and give additional impact if used shrewdly, but probably not resorting to formulas every time you write a title. If it does, the titles can all end a similar sound. Readers can get well boring.

A better approach is to analyze the content of your post to indicate some approaches for appropriate titles. Start there, and will soon have some points firm basis for the development of a title.

Recently, I’ve noticed many writers finished titles with the words “Oh my.” In general, the titles contain a list of elements and the “Oh my” is used in the sense that the author and perhaps the reader will be overwhelmed by the plethora of options.

The problem is that by face your cart to a fashion for titles such as this, his title sounds only every other title of fashion on the Web at the same time. If the title sounds like everyone else, what about content? And how ever stand out from the crowd?

Instead, why not say something concrete and to make a unique title that communicates the problem in his article addresses relevant about your post, or help offer? Title of the article is, after all, your hook or point of sale. They make it unique, not an approach of replica.

We tend to remove the title really long territory when we are trying to apply humour or colloquial title of an article. None of these reasons justify a title that will forever.

Its title is a bit like tone USP or elevator of your article: is necessary to speak clearly, quickly and clearly. Do readers struggle through his title and will be probably lost them. Even if it does, long titles tend to lack punch, orientation and approach, so that readers are more likely to close the confusing or underwhelmed at the end of the title. And they are a nightmare for users of mobile devices.

Try to keep titles to the point, out of respect readers time poor, tired eyes.

In an effort to engage readers, some bloggers create misleading titles. Often, this happens unintentionally. Closely examine the title to your post and take into account if the post meets the promise that makes the title.

Look very closely.

Fulfillment of promises of titles is essential for its credibility and to the satisfaction of the reader. If not remotely interested that a title can be a little above, to rethink it. Try other ideas and approaches. Run it past a friend. Ask your Twitter followers what they expect of an article with that title: soon will know if your title overpromises.

A couple of the points I mentioned reflects this approach, but it deserves a separate treatment. Not to be so adjusted by writing a title which is retweetable, link baity or fashion that loses the sense of article, or, worse still, damage your brand.

This is often the light titles how controversial or slightly offensive. The author thinks, “I have a great post here, a position that could go viral!” “I need a title to viral-ish get you!” And suddenly, stars in their eyes, he is pulling all the stops to make this “viral” title.

An attitude of any decision you do not apply to the degree. It is true that a title can make or break the success of the post. But you can also make or break his reputation, his consistency of brand and the number of readers. Not trying to be cool with their titles, only one same with their readers.

There is no “ideal” title. But there are good and bad titles. To me, as a reader and a blogger, a good title is one that communicates clearly and succinctly what offers article that forces the reader.

You suggest any titles that you think they are excellent, or terrible? I’d love to hear how title your posts in the comments.

How to create emails with a open rate of 47.8% and a 28.3% click rate

server temporarily unavailable
Error in deserializing body of reply message for operation ‘Translate’. The maximum string content length quota (8192) has been exceeded while reading XML data. This quota may be increased by changing the MaxStringContentLength property on the XmlDictionaryReaderQuotas object used when creating the XML reader. Line 1, position 9080.

this guest post is by Moon Hussain of Experiments in Passive Income.

Contrary to popular belief, you need great copywriting skills to make a successful income online.  For over a year, I thought publishing good material would not only help me go viral but also hurl me and my blog towards Planet Success faster than Superman gets rid of Kryptonite every time it’s in his sight.

No.  Such.  Luck!

In fact, very recently, I sent an email to my small email list and conducted a split test using Aweber.  The idea came on a whim.

Since I was releasing my new free report, why not also alert the people on my email list of it, and get a few more downloads, re-tweets, and Facebook likes from them? After all, these so-called gurus keep yelping that the money is in the list.  I decided to give it a go.

Here are the only details you need to know:

I have a super-small email list. The only difference between the split tests was the email subject line. The main email message was exactly the same for both versions, word for word.

Check out how my message fared with both groups:

The full subject line for Group 1 reads, “You Won’t Find These Details Anywhere Else [Free Report].” The second subject line reads, “I Think This Could Help Your Rankings Tremendously [Free Report].”

What is really interesting to note is that while the percentage of opens is very close (47.8% versus 41.6%), it’s the percentage of the actual clicks within the email that’s really surprising: 28.3% vs. 5.1%.

The nerd within me is ecstatic and has learned a valuable lesson here.  What if I had not tested with two different subject lines? I would have received a small number of actual clicks and would have been quite bummed that I didn’t get a good response.

For some reason, even though both email messages are the same, the subject line alone triggered the first group to take action.

Could this make or break someone’s product launch? You bet. Pay attention, small bloggers.

Suppose someone has 500 people on their email list.  Assuming their product is in demand and their copywriting skills are top notch, this person of course would love to sell as much of their product as possible—especially on launch day.

47.8% versus 41.6%?  Who cares?!

If this person didn’t test their subject lines, and even achieved the open rate as I managed, that would mean that out of 500 people, only 210 people would open their product-targeted email message (42% * 500 = 210).

Out of 210 people only 5% would click the link to the product page.  That results in 10.5 people, rounded down to ten.  How many of those people actually buy is a mystery … but we can agree that the more people click, the better.

But now let’s image the better case. In this version, 48% of 500 people open your product email, which amounts to 240 people.  Of those, 28% bother clicking the link to your product page, resulting in about 67 people checking out your slick product page.

What sounds better?  Ten people checking out your page or 67?

Yeah, I thought so! That’s almost seven times more people!

You can use this data to tweak your sales page as well, making a huge difference in sales numbers!

If you have a blog and a small email list, and want to transition to an income-generating blog, you need to pay attention and follow these four ultimate copywriting rules… you know, so you can buy the latest tech gadget that will light up your social life (like the commercials show!).

Consider both these headlines: “You Won’t Find These Details Anywhere Else [Free Report]” and “I Think This Could Help Your Rankings Tremendously [Free Report].”

The second subject line makes the reader think a little, bit but in the MMO niche, people are tired of the same old thing.  Perhaps this subject line alludes to something these people think they’ve already read about.

The first headline hints to exclusivity (details that can’t be found anywhere else), which gets people excited and curious.  Seems like they were more curious to find out these exclusive details through my report, which is indicated by the number of clicks the link within the email received.

Send a boring subject line to your email list and you’ve failed at the start line.

Of course you want fame, fortune, and money, but you can’t come off as a money-grubbing fool who uses his or her email lists for pure profit.  You have to serve your readers first, or your actions will come back to haunt you.

These people are on your email list for a reason: they want to learn something from you. Here’s an excerpt from the email that I sent to the people on my list:

“I’ve been pretty busy the last few weeks, which is why you may have noticed that I’ve scaled back my posting frequency on my blog, EIP.  However, I’ve also taken that time to create a free mini-report for you that details how I’ve managed to rank several sites in the top 10 and top 20 of Google.

“I don’t like wasting anyone’s time, especially yours.  But, you’re reading this for a reason.  You are trying to rank your sites and need some powerful information. There are details here that I thought twice about sharing but I’m really glad I did.”

Not only do I indicate what my report is all about (ranking sites) but I also remind the readers that I’m only sharing this with them because they are on my list for this type of information.

It’s a win-win. The readers get a free report and I get the traffic I want.

Stop being shy! It got me nowhere, and it’ll do the same for you.  Here’s how I asked people to check out my report:

“Here is the direct link to my free mini-report: [link].”

To be honest, I could have done a better job here.  This is a soft pitch.  I could have directed them a bit more aggressively by rephrasing the call-to-action to “Download my free report…” or “Check out my free mini-report…”  Words like “download” and “check out” not only tell the reader what to do, but also give the reader a mental command to go ahead and take action.

If you read the two paragraphs from my email, you’ll see three key sentences in there that really made people curious.

Phrase 1: “I’ve also taken that time to create a [free mini-report] for you that details how I’ve managed to rank several sites in the top 10 and top 20 of Google.”

My readers come to EIP to see how my niche sites are doing and how I rank them in Google.  I know that they are interested in this information because they are interested in doing the same thing! I created a highly relevant report for them and enticed them by sharing the fact that I’ve managed to rank my sites in the top ten and 20 in Google.

Phrase 2: “I don’t like wasting anyone’s time, especially yours.  But, you’re reading this for a reason.  You are trying to rank your sites and need some powerful information.”

I reminded readers why they’re on my email list. I reminded them of their own need to do well with their niche sites and blogs.  If I have something powerful to share (especially for free), they could use it to do well with their own sites and blogs.

Phrase 3: “There are details here that I thought twice about sharing, but I’m really glad I did.”

That’s not some slick phrasing for the sake of a few clicks—I’d think more than twice about using that phrase again.  When I was writing my report, it’s quite true that I did think twice about going very in-depth with the details.  At this point, the readers were really curious about what I had in store for them.

Not only is split testing necessary, but writing with a purpose goes hand in hand with testing.  If you are going to put hours and hours into growing your email list, and creating autoresponder emails and guest posts, you may as well work hard to demand the utmost attention from every reader who comes across your work!

None of that will happen in great numbers if you don’t improve your copywriting skills.

Copywriting skills are the difference between making $50 a month or $5000 month online.  In other words, your copywriting skills will either make you or break you.

How I made it in just press 3 times in 6 months?

It is this post invited by Hassan Osman TheCouchManager.com.

Less than a month after I launched my blog, one of my posts got appears in freshly pressed: home page of WordPress.com where every day of the week, ten positions are selected from around 450,000 new blog entries.

I didn’t even know what newly pressed meant until I saw an email from one of the editors WordPress congratulating me to appear.

As you can imagine, the results of traffic were enormous. In the next day or less, received more than 12,000 visits, comments from 150 to 200 new subscribers. Almost fell of my chair as my Inbox filled up with hundreds of “Moderate please” and “New Subscriber” messages.

In the next six months, my blog appeared again and again: a total of three times for only eight posts I had written since I started the blog. It seemed that I was doing something right.

Freshly PressedIt appears on freshly pressed

Before you share the reasons why my messages you have selected to freshly pressed, there are a couple of things to keep in mind.

First of all, I’m still relatively new to blogs and they do not have any “connections” in the blogosphere. He never asked a favor, I had my tweets endorsed by a celebrity, he paid a penny for the marketing of my blog, or even mentioned guest (in fact, this entry you are reading right now is the first post ever invited have written).

Secondly, the title of this post should really say why I think that I made in the press recently. I did not request or receive comments from WordPress editors explaining why selected my posts, so the following reasons are my own hypothesis.

I write an average of a blog post a month, in part because I have a very busy schedule, but above all because I don’t want to publish something on my blog that do not add value. You’re probably sick of reading “content is King”, but it took that advice seriously.  Given that I am a writer slowly, me takes a good 10 to 18 hours to research and write a single post. Certainly it could be published more frequently, but it would definitely suffer the quality of my content.  Had flooded my blog with low quality, of good quality jobs would be lost in the crowd, and radars of the WordPress editors could have fallen.  If you are a part time blogger like me, you probably have to choose between the quality or quantity – and my vote is always going to the quality.

Here are the titles of the three posts made in the new press:

Only what is common to all these is that are on the list (posts that have a number of list items in them). I think that people loves to read these types of posts because they have a structure much more free form. They are also much simpler to search through the readers have no much time to read. If you look at the main viral sites articles like Digg, Reddit, and Delicious, probably find several posts the list on their front pages, so get shared most frequently among the readers.

It should be noted that not all newly pressed selections have been put on the list (in fact, most of which were selected along with the mine were not), so this is not really a rule, but it certainly worked for me.

I am a very visual person, and I love using images to illustrate my ideas. Most bloggers (including A-listers) using image stock pictures in their posts to split the text and support the content. Using stock images it is definitely more attractive than the use of photos does not at all, but I think you must differentiate themselves from the masses through custom images.

For my blog, use an illustration or a picture that I think I, and no need to use any sophisticated software to do so. For illustrations of these posts, hand-outlined using them normal paper and pencils of colors, and then, analyses them on my PC. For pictures, I use plain old Microsoft Paint to adjust and type the text in them. Of course, takes a little more time and effort to create custom images, but seems worth the effort.

This intuitive sound, well let me explain. My blog is on the increase in productivity and save time while working from home, so it focused on a professional niche targets working remotely.

However, jobs has selected to freshly pressed, not focus only on that niche by itself only. Instead, it allows some flexibility for targeting a wider audience. For example, my post about the creation of a productive Home Office primarily helps entrepreneurs and managers to telecommute, but also contributes to a larger demographic, including routine office workers and students in the Organization of its work spaces. Led to a mass audience while maintaining my niche in mind, I’ve increased the odds of being selected.

As an additional benefit, the four reasons also helped increase my subscriber base because they made my blog more “sticky”. When analysing the statistics of the site after each increase in traffic, I realized that there was a relatively high rate by click on my other ads. This meant that visitors were not directly leaving after reading a post, but accede to read other articles and finally subscribed. So even if you do not get featured in newly pressed, following advice should help your blog grow!

This guest post is by Harrison Li ofBlog Lectures.

If you have ever bought something online, with no doubt, there have also been times when you rejected buying a certain product. And if you won’t buy it, the seller loses money.

What about when you dobuy something? As usual, you check out the item, all excited, and make sure it ships to your place as soon as possible.

But, behind the scenes, there are tricks that naturally go unnoticed that were used to magnetically entice you to purchase. Those are what I’ll be teaching you today.

This is what turns off a particular group of Internet users who are potential customers but don’t purchase. And it’s due to one little issue: the font size. If the font is too small, customers will definitely hate reading from the monitor. Turn it up—use at least 14-point font. It’s the new regular font size.

Now, I’m not just talking about blog posts, squeeze pages, or sales pages. These changes will have to be made where ever your customers are reading—even emails are not an exception.

Whenever you’re trying to capture your customers’ email addresses, you need to use a squeeze page—a page where you offer a freebie and capture the lead, so you can promote products to him or her in the future. Optimize Press is an essential tool here.

“Above the fold” is a term referring to the top area of the website, which you don’t have to scroll down to see. People these days have short attention spans; you must make sure what you say in this section of the page is attractive and enticing enough to actually get a person to read every single word.

You’ve got to get your visitors reading what you have to say word after word. But of course, give him some space, don’t jam a full paragraph in there! A successful technique is by crafting attractive headlines that drive the reader insane wanting to know what you have to say in the words that follow.

Repeatedly tease your customers and finally capture their emails with a freebie. This is exactly what you need to do—make them go crazy—but in short paragraphs so your communication can stay on readers’ short-attention-span radars.

Most of the times, bloggers offer a free ebook. This isn’t always the case, but if you’re an affiliate for an ebook, it is recommended that you write a short book review or jot down some of the valuable information you can find inside the actual book, and give it to your readers free. (This is when you get them to join your mailing list.)

When you offer a particular freebie in exchange for your customer’s name and email address, leave out the name field and just offer the email address field. You may be shocked to see your conversions move up by over 20%. This is due to the nature of laziness, and the idea that “less is more.”

In case you didn’t know, it is possible to change what the sign-up button says and how it looks. If you have a dull and boring sign-up button that said “Join” or even “Sign Up” then, trust me, you’re leaving plenty of potential revenue on the table.

It’s a fact that changing the submit button to something attractive can yield higher conversions. Ideas: “Instant Access,” “Instant Digital Download,” or “Free Entry”. The ideas are countless. Test each one out and see which performs the best for you.

This concept applies every time you try to get someone to perform an action. Consider squeeze pages. If your visitors see a Captcha box, an “I agree to the terms and conditions” box, or a zip code box, then obviously the customer is going to panic and wander away. Rather than displaying all those boxes that are not importantly necessary, take them off the page. The fewer options you provide, the more actions you’ll receive.

There are two types of customers: those that know about link cloaking and those that don’t. If you cloak your links, over 70% of the visitors who know about it will definitely not click on your affiliate links. My suggestion is don’t cloak links. Let everyone know they’re affiliate links, explaining it with reverse psychology if you like!

Here are some interesting poll results. The question was, “Do you disclose affiliate links?” Check out the results.

This is in fact a law of selling goods: you as the salesman have got to introduce yourself to the customers, so they know and trust who they are buying from. No one wants to buy from a random stranger they found on the Web. A great thing you could do is upload a picture of yourself in a positive mood to your About page, or your site’s sidebar.

This step is not entirely necessary but is recommended if you want to increase your conversions. If you review a product that you have not personally tried yourself, then it’s technically not a review and if your customers know about this, it becomes an instant turn-off to some of them. Make sure you test out something before you recommend it to others.

This plays an important role in sales, as it creates social proof. If a customer doesn’t see anyone else buying the product, she might wander off and buy from other well-known sources. On the other hand, don’t display too many testimonials—that’s a mistake I see a lot of times. All you need is quality, not quantity. If you have been featured on CNN news or something like that make sure you let your customers know about that, too.

One more thing: on each separate testimonial, include a picture of the person who wrote the testimonial. It would be even better if you could get them to hold the product in the picture if possible. Another word of advice: at the end of the testimonials, write a short message that says something like, “Once you’ve tried this product, I can feature your testimonial here!”

Please, talk in a personal manner—as if you were talking casually to your friends. This is the key to winning your readers’ hearts, and getting them naturally coming back. Whether it’s on sales pages or in emails, talk like you were chatting to your friends. Not only does this help enhance your relationship with potential customers, it also increase trustworthiness and brand awareness.

We’ve all heard of the old saying, a picture is worth a thousand words. That idea also applies to places where you promote affiliate products. You need to let your customers feel comfortable on your site. So your blog design in particular, as well as images you use to decorate your product, are important. Consider using premium photos—Fotolia might have what you want.

If you are providing an ebook as a freebie, then you will definitely need to use a 3D cover maker. I recommend MyEcoverMaker. Give their free templates a try, and see for yourself.

Whatever you do, make decisions for the readers first, and lastly for your own good. Whilst making any promotions or launching any products, a good rule of thumb is to list out the benefits and advantages to the customer. That’s it—nothing else. Remember, people are only reading your blog because they believe you have the solutions they need. And you will always have to hand out free “samples” of the product you’re promoting before you actually promote it.

In other words, don’t rush for the money-making bit. Wait for it, and be patient.

I’ve said a lot. Now it’s time for you to either take actions or remember the advice for your future needs.

Use a bigger font size for your content.Always use a squeeze page for capturing leads.Optimize your “above the fold” to counter people with short attention spans.Write with wise words that attract readers to read everything you have to say.Always offer freebies as a “bribe” for capturing leads.Remove the Name field from your signup box for higher conversions.Change the Submit button to something more appealing.Apply the “less is more” concept to your work.Don’t cloak links and use reverse psychology to get the most sales.Introduce yourself to the customers, with a photo.Tell your personal experience with the product you’re promoting.Display quality testimonials and invite new customer testimonials too.Talk in a friendly and casual manner, and don’t use difficult academic words.Blend your content with images and decorative designs.Get straight to the fact and let your readers know what you are on about, then sell.

Additionally, here are some great reads from the ProBlogger himself:

5 Minutes for WordPress 10 times safer

It is this post invited by David Wang of the ClickStarter.

Groups of hacktivists Lulzsec and anonymous are on the prowl again. Their actions have generated much attention for hacking, and you can be sure that many become bored children and dark characters are interested to start hacking too.

What happens if your blog was the target of a newbie hacker, to hone their skills to the big leagues? All the hard work building a better blog, growing traffic and the number of readers and earn money with your blog would compromise – or worse, lost forever.

Fortunately, WordPress is pretty sure of the Fund and provide frequent security updates. Even better are the following simple actions that can lead to ten times more secure WordPress. (Not scientifically proven!) (Your mileage may vary).

The file wp-config.php contains information WordPress setup and configuration. It is game over whether the pirates computer accessing this file, are able to inject malware on their blog pages or * drink * delete the entire contents of the blog.

A little-known feature of WordPress is that you can move the file wp-config.php a level above the root of WordPress. In the majority of Linux servers will be located in wp-config. php:

~/Home/user/public_html/wp-config.php

Simply FTP to the server and then move wp-config.php on the public_html directory, so it is located in:

~/Home/user/WP-config.php

In this way, wp-config.php is outside the root of the website directed to the public and no longer can access scripts and bots that hackers can use on the Web.

There is no other settings to configure – WordPress will automatically know how to find wp-config.php a higher level. Easy, really?

Warning: This suggestion will not work if you install your blog in a subdirectory (e.g. public_html/blog) or as an additional domain in cPanel (for example, public_html/yourblog.com).

Time required: 1 minute

Default WordPress administrator account has a username ‘admin’. Each figure hacker would know, so the use of ‘admin’ as the user name is like having a back door to your House knows every thief. Do not ever use it as the main account. Choose a different user name when you install WordPress.

««If you have been using the ‘admin’ user name, enter on the Board of managers» users ‘ add new user screen. Create a new user with the role of administrator. Now close the session and log on as a new user.

Return to the users screen and eliminate ‘admin’. You can transfer all the content created by ‘admin’ to your new user account before confirming the elimination.

Time required: 1 minute

WordPress is so easy to update, in addition to themes, and plugins to the latest version. It is very easy that they (almost) deserve to get hacked if you be not updated. Spend one minute install updates will save you hours or days of frustration and headaches if you ever get hacked.

Plugins and themes should also be upgraded regularly. All the plugins and themes from the WordPress directory are integrated with the automatic update function. Many plugins premium and themes also have automatic updates, which is another great reason to invest in a framework of high quality theme for your blog.

Time required: 1 minute

Finally, plugins dealing with security are another great way to reduce the likelihood that your blog getting hacked. Two really good plugins that do this are WP and Secure WordPress by WebsiteDefender analysis.

Analysis of safety of WP comes with several tools to help make more secure your blog:

The Analyzer checks the permissions of files of WordPress and highlights to anyone with permissions badly. FTP server and change the permissions accordingly.Password tool indicates the strength of the password and also generates random and super strong passwords that can be used.Databasetool allows you to backup the WordPress database and change the prefix of the database. Use to change the database prefix to something like ’7yhj2_’. This makes it difficult for hackers to guess its database table names when you try to perform SQL injection.

Secure WordPress takes a different approach and helps improve security through the Elimination of clues that can help hackers to identify vulnerabilities in the system. The plugin configuration screen is a simple list of checkboxes to do everything they can eliminate logon error messages, requests eliminate the version numbers of WordPress and even malicious URL blocking. Recommend you activate all the check boxes, unless a specific need for a feature that blocks.

Time required: 2 minutes

The previous steps will dramatically improve the security of your blog and prevent it from becoming a target of opportunity for novice hackers. However, security is an ongoing process and also involves the practical security as a habit.

Remain vigilant and make a point to continue with the latest security news for WordPress, especially if you are using to manage your business. It must also learn so much about security as possible. Web entrepreneur archives are full of great posts that contain much more information on keeping your blog hacker, spam senders and free of spyware and even planning for a disaster of blog!

Now, take five minutes and perform all the previous steps. I wish you good luck and I hope that your blog stays free from hackers!

How: improve your conversion rate by guest-blogging

Join The Epic Team

Guest-blogging has become one of the most powerful techniques, the bloggers use to build up large amounts of traffic and a loyal following.

While fun is always large amounts of traffic from guest-blogging and it is even more addictive and helpful, all, once you learn how they in subscribers, buyers, to convert applications or ad clickers.

Guest blogging makes your conversion improvement rate 10 x easier, rather than to improve it in the attempt with regular old traffic. Why? First of all, because it’s fast, you can make changes to your Web site and find the results of your review of the post overnight.

This should help, you quickly recognize if your conversion rate went up or down.

1 Split testing

This is the biggest tactic to improve a conversion rate. I’ve seen, conversion rates for split testing to increase 50%.

But what split testing? Split testing the process with the show multiple versions of a page visitor, and you have to see the ability is converted the pages best.

This is wonderful to find out which colours believe your visitors more comfortable with if they prefer it, videos, or text, or whether it large amounts of text or small amounts of text such as.

How do you go about split testing?

Personally I prefer split testing free way, but if you’re ready, some cash your conversions increase spend go ahead and buy a split-test script, at least two different versions of the pages will be tested at a time.

But, if you try to increase conversions for umsonst…

I would test two different versions of the pages at different times. Halfway through the first day of the guest post, page changed. As a result get a fairly equal mutually run.

2 Web Analytics

I’ve tripled some of my websites conversion rates, simply by looking at the statistics. With Web Analytics, you’ll see all kinds of important information, such as my favorite…

Exit rate is the number of visitors of who left the site this page compared to the total amount of visitors, who visited this page.

For example, if a total of 10 visitors saw the side and 8 of them links page, and then the exit rate for the site would 80% of this.

A low exit rate means that visitors are addicted, you do, and can’t get off your blog. It is really easy, because guest blogging offers some very high quality traffic.

How can you improve your exit rate? You can try to split test again, or make you more likable… the page

To add more links, tell them exactly where you go next, and create no dead ends.

The perfect website ends never; It will always be people where to go next.

3 Test test test.

Never listen to test on. What can happen if you not something totally bizarre to your blog?

What would happen if you took away your e-book? Do your visitors think what could be, if they can find your post comments? What could happen if you are writing a post act as if you sold your blog?

Either these crazy tactics can create an extremely bizarre impression of you. Enhance your visitors want, and remember.

Call your Web Designer. You have to see a professional look of your entire website, you made mistake in programming. A simple programming error will kill conversions.

Try hold. No matter whether you your conversion rate + 1 have raised %, + 2%, + 5% + 10%, + 20% + 50% or even + 60%. Don’t listen up, until you are as high as you can go. 100%.

4 – A 110% conversion rate

Find a friend is under estimated tactics. How can you use it?

Let us say that you buy a product that you or someone to subscribe. You tell them that she will be another bonus product you when you subscribe to two other people, or buy the product. As a result, she were only a 300% conversion rate… I guess:)

Refer a friend strategy is totally amazing and can potentially help your blog go viral.

Guest blogging is really impressive. She can do practically wonders, and extremely high amounts of traffic. Good luck!

Joe is a guest blogging genius. He reveals his guest blogging secrets on his Facebook page, and began the is your bloggers? A tool that simplifies guest blogging-1000x faster and 100 X.

10 Trends of blogosphere + 34 grammar tips

Translate Request has too much data
Parameter name: request
Translate Request has too much data
Parameter name: request

Online retailer Zappos has recently seen a “substantial” increase in revenue after correcting the grammar and spelling of reviews on its site. The sentiment of the reviews was not changed, but New York University research has shown that well-written reviews—even negative ones—inspire confidence. Why does that matter? Because the same principles hold true on your blog. Good grammar can do more than just help you avoid admonishment in the comments; it can also help your blog build trust and authority.

Take our grammar quiz to see whether you’re guilty of some of the most common blogging errors. Here’s how: Take a look at the sentences below about the most blogged-about stories of July (according to Regator, those stories were: Rupert Murdoch, Debt Ceiling, House Speaker John Boehner, Harry Potter, Comic-Con, Amy Winehouse, Anders Behring Breivik, Casey Anthony, World Cup, and Space Shuttle), then determine how many grammar and spelling errors are in each. Try to find them all before you peek at the answers…

As the founder of News Corp, Amanda could care less how many pies Rupert Murdoch has thrown at him.

Problem 1: “The founder of News Corp” refers to Rupert Murdoch, but because of its location, it seems to be referring to Amanda. Tip: Put modifiers next to the noun they are modifying to avoid confusion.
Problem 2:
“Could care less” means that it would, in fact, be possible to care less and that the speaker does care to some degree. Tip: Use “could not care less” to indicate a total lack of concern.
Problem 3:
Passive voice, while not strictly incorrect, is often less direct and concise than active voice. Tip: Use active voice whenever possible. It conveys more information about who is performing the action.
Corrected:
Amanda could not care less how many pies protesters throw at Rupert Murdoch, the founder of News Corp.

The Republican’s believe the Democrat’s should of handled the debt ceiling crisis different then they did.

Problem 1: “Republican’s” and “Democrat’s” should not have apostrophes. Tip: Use apostrophes to create possessive forms, but never to create plurals. Check out the Apostrophe Abuse blog for grammar-nerd amusement.
Problem 2:
“Should of” is incorrect. Tip: Use “should have” rather than “should of.” The same goes for “would have” and “could have.”
Problem 3 (?):
This is murky water, but it could be argued that “debt ceiling crisis” should be hyphenated. Tip: When two or more words work together to modify another word, you have what’s called a compound modifier. Some stylebooks will tell you to hyphenate all compound modifiers, others tell you to refer to the dictionary for individual terms, and still others will tell you to use a hyphen only when it is needed to avoid confusion (for example, hyphenate “man-eating shark” to indicate that it’s a shark that eats guys as opposed to “man eating shark,” which could be interpreted as a guy who is eating a shark). Be consistent and hyphenate when not doing so would cause confusion. Oh, and there’s never a need to hyphenate when using an adverb ending in “ly” and an adjective (“extremely confused blogger,” for example).
Problem 4:
“Then” should be “than.” Tip: Use “then” when you are placing something after something else in time (I wrote this post then went to a party). Use “than” when you are comparing things (in this case, how the Democrats handled the crisis compared to how they should have).
Problem 5:
“Different” should be “differently.” Tip: Pay attention to whether you’re modifying a noun or verb to make sure you’re using the right modifier. In this case, we’re modifying a verb (“handled”), so we need the adverb rather than the adjective.
Corrected:
The Republicans believe that Democrats should have handled the debt-ceiling crisis differently.

House Speaker John Boehner’s Budget Control Act that aimed to raise the debt ceiling was put to a vote, for all intensive purposes the vote was successful.

Problem 1: The phrase “that aimed to raise the debt ceiling” should be enclosed in commas and “that” should be “which.” Tip: The phrase is what’s called a nonrestrictive clause, meaning that it could be removed from the sentence and the sentence would still make sense. Any time you have additional, non-essential information like this, use “which” rather than “that.” In these cases, enclose the phrase with commas.
Problem 2:
Instead of a comma, the two sentences should be separated by a period/full stop. Tip: When two or more sentences run together with commas in between them, the resulting monstrosity is known as a comma splice and is to be avoided at all costs. Commas are good at lots of things, but stringing sentences together isn’t one of them. (Note, in that last sentence, that the comma works with a preposition—“but”—to put two sentences together. Commas can work with their preposition pals to do this, but can’t do it on their own.)
Problem 3:
“All intensive purposes” is incorrect. Tip: The correct phrase is “all intents and purposes.”
Corrected:
The House of Representatives voted on House Speaker John Boehner’s Budget Control Act, which aimed to raise the debt ceiling. For all intents and purposes, the vote was successful.

Its hard to except that they’re will be no more Harry Potter movies. Fans literally cried their eyes out when they found out this film would be the last.

Problem 1: “Its” should be “It’s.” Tip: Remember that apostrophes stand for letters that are missing, so “it’s” means “it is” or “it has.” See the letters the apostrophe is replacing? Without the apostrophe, “its” is possessive and means “belonging to it.”
Problem 2:
“Except” should be “accept.” Tip: “Accept” is a verb that generally means to “to willingly receive, agree to, or hold something as true.”  “Except” is usually a preposition and means “excluding.” Imagine that the “A” in “accept” stands for “agree” and the “x” in “except” draws a big “X” over something that is not included.
Problem 3:
“They’re” should be “there.” Tip: Go back to the tip about apostrophes standing in for missing letters. “They’re” actually means “they are” or “they were.” You can see the letters that the apostrophe is replacing. “There” refers to a location. It has the word “here” inside of it, which might help you remember the difference between it and “their,” which is a possessive pronoun meaning “something that belongs to them.” “Their” also contains a word holds is a clue to its meaning: “heir,” which implies ownership.
Problem 4:
Fans did not literally cry their eyes out (I hope). Tip: Don’t say “literally” unless you actually truly mean exactly what you are saying. There is an entire blog devoted to the misuse of this word.
Corrected:
It’s hard to accept that there will be no more Harry Potter movies. Fans cried when they found out this film would be the last.

Comic-con is a place where a fan can get autographs from their favorite stars. The autograph sessions feature stars like the Green Lantern cast, including Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, and Ryan Reynolds, the Terra Nova cast, including Stephen Lang and Alex Graves, and the Immortals cast.

Problem 1: There’s a noun/pronoun agreement problem. “A fan” is singular but the pronoun “their” is plural. Tip: Things can get awkward when a writer is trying to use “their” rather than “his or her” to avoid gender bias. It does manage to avoid gender-specific language such as, “a place where a fan can get autographs from his favorite stars,” but it also makes a grammatical mess. In many cases, the best choice is to make the noun plural to match the plural pronoun. You could also eliminate the pronoun (“…a fan can get autographs from stars…”).
Problem 2:
“Like” should be “such as.” Tip: This is a nitpicky one, and few would be bothered if you used “like” in this situation. But technically, “like” means that there will be stars similar to the stars listed, whereas “such as” means that those exact stars will be in attendance.
Problem 3:
The commas after “Reynolds” and “Graves” should be semicolons. Tip: When you have a list of items with commas, separate those items with a semicolon for clarity. The Oatmeal calls this use the “super-comma.”
Problem 4:
The titles of movies and television shows should be italicized. Tip: Use italics for longer works such as novels, television series, albums, blogs, etc. Use quotation marks around the smaller works that make up those longer works, so things such as chapter titles, episode titles, song titles, blog posts, etc.
Corrected:
Comic-con is a place where fans can get autographs from their favorite stars. The autograph sessions feature stars such as the Green Lantern cast, including Blake Lively, Peter Sarsgaard, and Ryan Reynolds; the Terra Nova cast, including Stephen Lang and Alex Graves; and the Immortals cast.

Irregardless of your opinion of her music we can all agree that Amy Winehouse, 27, died far to young.

Problem 1: “Irregardless” should be “regardless.” Tip: “Irregardless” is not a word—or at least not a standard word that is widely accepted and doesn’t make you sound silly.
Problem 2:
A comma is needed after “music.” Tip: Introductory phrases or words that come before the main clause, are separated from the main clause by commas. That’s a bit of an oversimplification. Purdue OWL has a fantastic and extensive page on comma rules if you want to geek out.
Problem 3:
“To” should be “too.” Tip: “Two” is the number after three. It’s the only one of the three homophones with a W, which, when flipped onto its side, looks a bit like a 3. “Too” means “also” or “excessively.” Let the extra O remind you that you’re adding onto something. “To” is the correct spelling for all other uses.
Corrected:
Regardless of your opinion of her music, we can all agree that Amy Winehouse, 27, died far too young.

Anders Behring Breivik says he will identify the terror cells he was working with if his “demands” are met. His demands include getting cigarettes, wearing civilian clothing, and the resignation of the entire Norwegian government.

Problem 1: The quotation marks around “demand” are not needed. Tip: Putting something that is not a title or direct quote in quotation marks implies that the term is false. With that in mind, check out the well-maintained Unnecessary Quotes blog for a laugh.
Problem 2:
The list’s structure is not parallel. Tip: When you make a list of items, they should all be the same part of speech.
Corrected:
Anders Behring Breivik says he will identify the terror cells he was working with if his demands are met. His demands include cigarettes, civilian clothing, and the resignation of the entire Norwegian government. (Second sentence could also be corrected as: “His demands include getting cigarettes, wearing civilian clothing, and seeing the resignation of the entire Norwegian government.” Either option fixes the parallel structure problem.)

The jurors in the Casey Anthony trial use to be frightened for their safety but the judge decided not allow the juror’s names to be released. Some are nervous anyways.

Problem 1: “Use to” should be “used to.” Tip: “Use to” is never correct. When said aloud, “used to” can sound a bit like “use to,” but remember that when you use this phrase, you’re talking about something in the past tense, which is why it ends in “ed.”
Problem 2:
There should be a comma after “safety.” Tip: As mentioned earlier, commas can’t put two sentences together on their own, but they can work with prepositions such as “but,” “and,” and “or” to join two sentences.
Problem 3:
The apostrophe in “juror’s” should come after the S rather than before it. Tip: If a word is both plural and possessive, put the apostrophe after the S unless the word is plural without an S (“children” for example).
Problem 4:
“Anyways” should be “anyway.” Tip: Banish “anyways” from your blog. It’s not a word.
Corrected:
The jurors in the Casey Anthony trial used to be frightened for their safety, but the judge decided not to allow jurors’ names to be released. Some are nervous anyway.

I wish I was better at betting on soccer. I layed money on the U.S. womens’ team, so I had to go to the ATM machine.

Problem 1: “Was” should be “were.” Tip: The term for this grammatical mood is the subjunctive, and it’s like the fairy-tale of grammar. You’ll find it where you’re talking about something wishful that has not yet happened, and in those cases, you’ll use “were” rather than “was.” Another example would be something like “If I were in charge, I’d do away with all these rules.” Though the second example doesn’t explicitly convey a wish, it is wishful thinking in action.
Problem 2:
“Layed” should be “laid.” Tip: “Layed” is not a word, so that makes this particular instance easy, but let’s not lie: The “lay” vs. “lie” thing isn’t simple. It’s a bit more problematic than some of the other easily confused words because the past tense of one is actually the same word as the present tense of the other. Confused? Me too. It’s my grammatical Achilles’ heel. The always-brilliant Grammar Girl wrote nearly 600 words on the topic, and her charts and examples will do a far better job of explaining than I can do in a brief space.
Problem 3:
The apostrophe in “women’s’” should go before the S rather than after it. Tip: We said above that if a word is both plural and possessive, the apostrophe goes after the S unless the world is plural without the S. In this case, the word “women” is plural without an S, so the apostrophe goes before the S.
Problem 4:
“ATM machine” should be “ATM.” Tip: The M in “ATM” stands for “machine,” so “ATM machine” is redundant. The same goes for “PIN number,” “HIV virus,” and “please RSVP.”
Corrected:
I wish I were better at betting on soccer. I laid money on the U.S. women’s team, so I had to go to the ATM.

The fumes, which were left from the Kennedy Center’s 135 space shuttle launches, will take thirty years and $96 million dollars to clean.

Problem 1: “Which” should be “that” and the commas should be removed from the first sentence. Tip: Without the clause explaining that the fumes were left over from the shuttle launches, we don’t know which fumes the sentence refers to; that means it is a necessary or restrictive clause. As you might recall from above, if you cannot remove the clause without losing the meaning of the sentence, the clause should be introduced with “that” rather than “which” and does not need to be set off by commas.
Problem 2:
The word “dollars” is unnecessary. Tip: Like “ATM machine” above, “$96 million dollars” is redundant because “dollars” is represented by the dollar sign.
Corrected:
The fumes that were left from the Kennedy Center’s 135 space shuttle launches will take thirty years and $96 million to clean.

5 Key questions before you decide to Blog in another language

It is this post invited by Stephanie Hetu StephanieHetu.com.

Most of us international bloggers learned almost everything that we know in English, because the community of bloggers, is huge, active and available. We don’t have to look very far to learn all kinds of tips and tricks for our most striking blogs, write better content, interact better, etc.

listeningCopyright Vladimir Voronin – Fotolia.com

So we must all blog in English we should not? The market is huge! Nahhh is often much easier to blog in our own language because words flow better, we know the local expressions and we know what makes people laugh (or not).

Personally, he discovered the Web in 1999, all it could in English (and still not every day), to start my business online in English and left my job in 2003 he learned. But then I decided to take a u-turn and build a presence on the Internet in French, and it works very well.

The decision to do so is not easy, but I am not sorry for a second! And today help the entrepreneurs to the same decision when it is in their interest.

Home, growing and monetizing a blog in another language that English is not for everyone, which is why I have compiled a list of five questions that can arise before making the decision.

I know, this sounds like a very silly question, but it is important! Sometimes bloggers wants to start a blog in another language just because they think it is going to be easy to get lots of trafic (SEO is generally easier in other languages). But it is often a bad idea!

Why? Because if you decide to start a blog in French when they do not speak French, will face these problems:

Customer service: how to manage emails it receives from the blog ask you? Are in a language you can not read… it is not easy!Management of comments: how does it decide if a comment is a good to publish to your blog or not if you can not read and understand?Quality of content: Same problem: do you write good quality jobs if they do not speak the language? I know that some bloggers used an automatic translator, but that is not the way to follow to obtain benefits in the long term!

There is a solution: outsource everything. But what is the point just begin? Want especially if this is your first blog, to learn all the ropes of building, promoting and monetizing, it did not wish to delegate work still do not know how to do in the first place.

Despite starting a blog in another language often it’s a very good idea because there is less competition, does not guarantee success! You should do some research to see if there is a market for the item that you want to talk about in your blog.

The good news is that some excellent tools for research in English also works in another language! For example, you can use the Google keyword external tool to investigate your niche and select a specific language and country-specific. In this way obtain an idea of the demand for the object in its own local market.

Then you should look at monetizing options. This is important because in a smaller market competition is not great, but if there is no affiliate program to help you monetize your blog, you’ll have to think of anything else to make money!

First, find affiliate program in their own language, because they are easy to use in a blog make money. But do not despair if there are not many good quality affiliate programs, does not mean that it can not return your blog!

If affiliate marketing is not an option, can always turn to the sale of advertising space, add Adsense to your blog and (my favorite) to sell their own products/infoproducts on the site.

A way to build a more rapid audience for your blog is to create joint ventures with other bloggers writing jobs of quality will be published on other blogs in your niche as a guest author. To do that, should already have some influential in your niche blogs!

Although not personally would start me a blog in a niche specific, if there is any other blogs in the same niche, or in the same market can guest post, could take more time to generate traffic and authority for your blog.

If the answer is Yes, what could be a very profitable idea to start a blog in another language!

Let me explain.

If you’re blogging in a niche where there is a huge gap of time in knowledge between the English-speaking market and the other language, has an advantage: you can learn everything in English before everyone, and then look for as a hero by teaching in another language and be the first to do so.

Blogs in another language can be fun and profitable, if you’re in the right market or the right niche. Do if they have been blogs in English and you want to take advantage of the fact that speaking another language for building blogs on the same topic, why not?

Just make sure you understand the situation and could be on his way to add new revenue streams for your business of blogs online!
