Finally, the most eagerly anticipated wedding of the year is about to happen in Breaking Dawn the movie.  The movie version of the final book in Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight Saga, Breaking Dawn, will be released in two parts — first of which is scheduled to be shown this coming November.  Breaking Dawn is the most important part for most Twilight fans because of the long-awaited wedding of Bella and Edward.

What cuts Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight Series above the rest? It’s just another sappy love story about teenagers. And a vampire falling in love with a mortal isn’t new. Buffy and Angel were the first ill-fated lovers in this genre. Other stories have followed suit — isn’t this the same plot of the new TV series True Blood?

Just when I thought I have given up on love stories, along came Twilight. Maybe no matter how hard we deny it, we still crave for undying love stories that we know can’t be real. If we can’t have it in our lives, we probably settle for reading it in a book or watching the movie. Having someone cough out lines like, “I’ll do whatever it takes to keep you safe,” “You are my life now,” or “I’d rather die than stay away from you,” reminds us of something most of us have given up looking for. Of course, blend this with the mystic and sexy nature of vampires and the thrill of a “love that cannot be” and you’ve got yourself a bestseller and a blockbuster.

I was totally unaware that Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight series will already be shown on the silver screen. I was surprised to see a poster while browsing the net. As usual, the fantasy genre excites me, whether it’s a book or a movie or both. I think I was able to read Meyer’s 3 books on the series in less than a week. Who would’ve thought the movie has already been finished. I was supposed to write something about The Dark Knight. When I saw the video and stills of Twilight, all I could say was “Batman who?”

I know what most of you are going to say, I’m too old for books or movies like this. Well, you will just have to bear with me. I’m one of those unlucky girls who has never had a love story of her own. If Bella in Twilight is the girl who never meets normal guys, I’m the girl who never meets the good ones. Hell, I’ll give anything to meet a good one — even if he turns out to be a vampire. Who cares as long as he protects me the way Edward watches over Bella. So, if you can live forever, what would you live for?
