Stan Lee Dies at 95

stan lee dead

One of the things my kids and I love about the Marvel Universe are the iconic cameos of the great Stan Lee in all the Marvel movies.  A few seconds and a short line is all we need to make us smile.  The last time we saw him was at the Infinity War, playing a school bus driver where Spidey jumped off to join Ironman and Dr. Strange.  It’s a sad morning for me and my kids because we just saw the news that Stan Lee has passed away.

News reports indicate he was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in an ambulance where he died. Stan Lee has been battling different illnesses over the years, including pneumonia and vision problems.  It’s sad to think that the last cameo we may ever see is from the last installment of the Infinity War.

Along with thousands and thousands of fans, we grieve the loss of one of the most brilliant and imaginative people God has given this world.  If I were asked for a talent that could change the world, I would choose to have his.  After all the awesome and incredible stories he created and all the movies inspired by him, his loss feels like the loss of a family.  We will forever be grateful for the joy he has brought me and my family.  Stan, may your next adventure be as awesome and fantastic as the one you just ended.

Final Trailer of Avengers 2 Released

avengers 2

Just saw the latest and final trailer of Avengers Age of Ultron and I can’t wait to see it when it’s released on May 1. My kids and I feel like we’ve been waiting for Avengers 2 forever.  Now that I’ve seen the trailer, I wish I hadn’t.  It gave some things away the other 2 trailers didn’t.  I don’t normally watch trailers to avoid any spoiler, but I couldn’t help myself.

I do think the voice of James Spader as Ultron is spot on.  I recognize his voice and it sounds as menacing and evil as it should.  This is what the production of The Hobbit should’ve done to Benedict Cumberbatch as Smaug — wouldn’t have known that was him if they hadn’t advertised it. As for James Spader, didn’t even think he had a good voice for a villain.  Anyway, here’s the new trailer for fans like me that can’t wait . . . . by the way, I still love the first trailer better — sort of makes up for the silent shawarma post-credit scene of the first movie.  Nothing like watching your superheroes chilling and acting idiotic like the rest of us. Prince Caspian Grabs the Box Office Crown from Ironman

Just as I expected, the second movie in the Narnia series, Prince Caspian, dethrones Ironman in its opening weekend making $56.6 million based on estimates. Although it made less in North America in its debut weekend compared to the first movie, The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, which raked in $65.5 million, producers expect the movie to gain momentum during the Memorial Day weekend and stay strong as summer holidays begin.

The first movie grossed $745 million worldwide during its theatrical run and it is likely that Prince Caspian will not be far behind in the tally. Ironman was unseated from the top spot after holding it for 2 weeks, slipping to the second spot making $31.2 million. Ironman has reached domestic gross of $222.5 million to date.

The biggest disappointment in the movie industry is the Wachowski brothers’ Speedracer which grossed only $29.8 million in 2 weeks. Although producers of the movie hasn’t raised the white flag, it is still a long way to go before they can recover the $120 million it cost to make it. Good luck then — I didn’t even know that the Wachowski brothers were behind that movie.
